Privacy policy

Last updated: August 2026. How ButterflyMom handles your information.

Who we are

ButterflyMom (butterflymom.in) is an online shop featuring handmade products from young creators. The business is operated from Tamil Nadu, India. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

Information we collect

Account: name, email address, phone number, and password (stored securely hashed).

Orders: shipping name, address, pin code, state, phone number, and payment status (payment card details are handled by Razorpay — we do not store them).

Technical: basic server logs (IP address, browser type) for security and fraud prevention.

How we use your data

To create and manage your account, process orders, deliver products, and send transactional emails (order confirmation, shipping updates, password reset, email verification). These account and order messages are required to operate the shop.

With your consent (Account → Notification preferences), optional promotions, review requests, cart reminders, and new-arrival alerts via email and/or browser push notifications.

To comply with tax and accounting requirements (GST invoices and records).

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Storage & security

Sensitive fields such as email and phone numbers are encrypted in our database. Secrets and payment keys are stored securely on our servers, not in the website code.

We use HTTPS in production and restrict access to customer data to authorised administrators only.

Your rights

You may update your name and phone number in Account settings. To delete your account or request a copy of your data, contact us at the email on our Contact page.

You may turn optional promotions, review requests, cart reminders, and new arrivals on or off in Account → Notification preferences. Order and security emails cannot be disabled.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to secure your session. With your permission we may use a service worker for browser push notifications. We do not use advertising cookies on the storefront.

For short event campaigns (for example our church Harvest Festival landing page), we may set a first-party campaign cookie (bm_campaign) so we can attach welcome offers to your account when you register or sign in. That cookie is for offer attribution only, not advertising, and expires after a limited time.
